Communism
Equality and Collective Ownership
The idea of communism is to build a society so that there are no rich or poor people and everyone is treated equally. All assets, enterprises and resources in a communist society belong collectively to the people, not to individuals. In this way everyone benefits equally and shares in the riches.
Everyone cooperates for the benefit of the communist social group. The goal is to ensure that everyone has access to the necessities of life, such as food, housing, health care and education. Everyone is taken care of and there is no unfair treatment because people give what they can and get what they need.

Foundations and Challenges of
Communism
Communism was developed by thinkers like Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. They believed that many problems stemmed from a class structure where some people were richer and more powerful than others. They believed that society could be fairer and happier if the class system no longer existed and resources were distributed equally.
But practicing communism was difficult. Several countries that tried ended up with oppressive governments and economic problems. The critics argue that communism can limit personal freedom and reduce people’s motivation to work hard. Despite these factors the idea of communism still continues to influence people as people wish to see an equitable society.
